A new way of playing the kalimba

The Tavalimba is a further development of the sub-Saharan African kalimba, also known as a thumb piano.

While the kalimba is played with the thumbs, the Tavalimba is designed to be played with the fingers. Only a maximum of four notes can be created simultaneously using both thumbs. But sixteen notes can be created using all the fingers, thus opening up previously unknown possibilities of making music with an instrument that’s the size of a cake plate, weighs just 650 grams, and fits in any knapsack.
